The last DQ post… for now

The Daily Quotient (DQ) series of posts started a week ago. It doesn’t seem to be working for me or the public (based on comments and views). I was thinking of cancelling it for now, going back to the drawing board and starting again in the summer; and then this happened.
The lava lamp seems to have died for now. I fiddled with the plug and it made a bunch of noises, but no cigar. So goes the lava lamp, so goes DQ for now.
It is for the best. It needs work.

I will still be posting frequently and will focus on the three p’s: people, places, and politics. Each of these aspects seem to generate the most interest (for myself and the public).

Wringer washer

This was, at first, a wonderful addition to the house. But after a week, it seized. Argh. As far as tech goes, I read it is simple and robust, so maybe I can rebuilt it in the summer.

Trippy

Another piece of many pieces hanging in the house. Wayne’s memory tells him Zoe picked this one up at a Grateful Dead concert. If you zoom in far enough, you’ll find the author’s name in the top right corner – Bob Hock.

Restoring a toy corner

Here is a picture of the inside of the door to the space under the stairs. Olathe believes this is Sam’s writing. When Olathe was a kid, the space in front of this door was her toy corner. Now, Clark uses the same toy corner 30 years later.

Mother nature

For the nature feature this week, here is a picture of the Big House during Saturday afternoon. Today, we had some of the strongest winds this season. Pretty exciting weather for the winter storm enthusiast.

NB: Sorry for delays in DQ this week. But this delay, allowed for me to post about the storm. 🙂

Water heater

This is a beautiful piece of tech – a wood stove and a pot. It is simple and easy to use. Not quite as easy as hot water straight from your taps, but still fairly easy to use. Gonna miss the ready-to-go hot water in the summer. 🙁

Pond at Sunrise

Here is the mural directly on the drywall in the living room. Wayne tells me that, as far as he knows, no one remembers the person’s name. Apparently, the same artist that did the rainbow on the stairs. The signature is A.W.S and the year is 1985.
